ENGINEERING – Electrical Engineers


Responsible for all electrical engineering on assigned projects.


  • Develop electrical distribution systems for large industrial applications and plans these systems using recognized industry standards and specifications.
  • Perform system calculations and studies for electrical power systems – load flow, voltage drop, motor starting, short circuit studies, and relay coordination studies.
  • Develop test requirements and assist in electrical equipment checkout and start-up.
  • Review and check all assigned project electrical installation drawings for compliance with all company and project instructions (One-line diagrams, electrical equipment location drawings, plan drawings, details, schematics, wiring diagrams, etc.) of technical vendor submittals for installation requirements.
  • Develop technical bid tabulation to support the selection of major electrical equipment
  • Assist in the development of project schedules and manpower requirements.
  • Review and checking of technical vendor submittals for installation requirements.


  • BS or licensure, PE preferred.
  • Five years experience.
  • Working knowledge of ISA Standards and International Codes.
  • Effective computer skills; Microsoft Office software, Lotus Notes and other Company and discipline specific software applications.
  • Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing with superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the Company.
Effective analytical and problem-solving skills. Job Responsibilities:
  • Design, plan and determine requirements for the installation, maintenance, restoration and relocation of routine distribution overhead and underground electrical systems and services related to customer driven projects
  • Prepare distribution load flow analysis for new customer loads.
  • Prepare construction documents and monitor construction progress
  • Review final plans, specifications, special conditions and agreements and may coordinate the work of electrical contractors, affected public agencies, and crews
  • Provide instructions to field crews and answer questions concerning design issues
  • Interact with inter and intra departmental engineering and construction personnel, other government agencies, customers, contractors, consultants and the public to exchange information, coordinate work, answer questions and respond to complaints
  • Use AutoCAD, as well as necessary computations, in the preparation of preliminary and final plans, schematics, wire diagrams and drawings of the electrical features of distribution systems and related electrical systems
  • Adhere to safety regulations and practices
  • Participate in presentations, special projects and assignments as directed
  • Learn how to run loadflow, stability, and other required studies on the Electrical Power system
  • Learn about power Utility Regulatory requirements in our System Planning group


Education: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering; or other combinations of education and/or experience which provides preparation to do professional electrical engineering work; or must be able to obtain a degree within the next three months.

Experience: For field assignments must be able and willing and to work in all types of weather and in or near construction sites where there will be exposure to traffic, hazardous or toxic substances, and high voltage energized equipment. May be required to work nights, evenings, weekends and holidays and during storms.

Certification/License: Driver’s license or equivalent mobility.

Job offers are contingent on the verification of credentials and other information required by the employment process including the completion of a background check which includes criminal history and driving history review. Specific Areas of Responsibility include:

  • Playing a lead role in the development of design changes to electrical plant systems and equipment requiring modification, upgrade or replacement
  • Analyzing complex technical and management problems, and then determining the most cost-effective solutions
  • Providing electrical engineering support to station work groups (Operations, Chemistry, and Maintenance) through testing, procedure development, and configuration management
  • Understanding and maintaining the system(s)/equipment design basis and performing and/or checking calculations to support that basis
  • Performing problem resolution, cause analysis, operability determinations and corrective action implementation
  • Providing Engineering Support Program activities, such as monitoring, trending, developing periodic health reports, long-range planning, maintaining Engineering Support Documents, calculation reviews, and conducting plant walk downs
  • Providing input on the development of modification implementation and testing procedures

Job Requirements

Successful candidates will possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • A detailed working knowledge of power plant design, construction, and commissioning techniques and practices
  • Demonstrated MS Office, computer analysis, problem-solving/analytical, technical writing, leadership, and planning/organizational skills are essential
  • Experience with any of the following is desired: large medium voltage industrial motors (>1000hp); medium voltage and low voltage switchgear; high voltage and medium voltage transformers; utility grade emergency power systems

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Performs complex engineering tasks and particularly important engineering work efficiently and accurately related to the electrical needs of the project.Extracts engineering information from CAD drawings and reviews/comments.Completes a variety of assignments such as reviewing and/or preparing drawings, specifications, and other materials suitable for procurement and construction purposes.

Frequently interfaces with other Engineering disciplines as well as other departments.

Reviews supplier drawing submittals and performs technical bid analyses of assigned electrical packages.

Reviews and/or prepares and issues specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents related to specific electrical assignments.

Provides technical guidance to CAD Technicians working on the same project.

May be required to provide the seal and signature of the professional engineer, as appropriate, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and ordinances.

Reviews and/or prepares and issues specifications, data sheets, and other electrical-related construction documents as necessary.

Supports the review and checks of electrical designs including BOQ checks and reviews and/or prepares responses to RFIs related to assigned design and construction projects.

Reviews the scope of electrical design works according to the contract and monitors progress of electrical design work by others.

Coordinates production of relevant drawings and their release for the execution of works.

Supports the Senior Electrical Engineer and Infrastructure Design Manager in performing other tasks as deemed necessary.

RequirementsEXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:4-year degree in Electrical Engineering
Minimum of 8 years of related work experience, GCC experience preferred.Experience in HV / LV projects, pump station projects, Waste Water Projects, Substations.

Experience in the construction of large industrial or infrastructural projects is highly preferred.

Proven ability to perform in a technical role.

Registration as a professional engineer desirable.

Good written and oral communications skills

Thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations are also required.

In addition, must be knowledgeable of current technology and how it can be effectively utilized on the project.
